If you were to sum up the weather pattern for the next couple of weeks in a word, that word would be ridge. For the next week we stay under the influence of a ridge located just to our west. And the following week, also known as voodoo country, the ridge moves further east with the main ridge axis from the Gulf to the eastern Great Lakes.

For today, sunny and warmer with highs approaching the 90-degree mark. Moisture slowly increases but I think we remain primarily dry through Wednesday. From Wednesday into the weekend, it appears that the summertime pattern of scattered afternoon and early evening showers will take over. With the westerlies along the northern tier of the US, we remain away from any organized weather systems well into the future. That means lows in the 60s and highs primarily in the mid and upper 80s.

So the summer forecast of daily scattered to isolated showers has jumped to the forefront – we can almost put the forecast on automatic pilot – but we won’t!!

Don’t forget to listen to our weekly netcast anytime on the web or on iTunes. This is the show all about weather featuring many familiar voices including our meteorologists here at ABC 33/40. You can even listen here on the blog; look for the player on the top left.

And you can follow news and weather updates from ABC 33/40 on Twitter here. And, my personal Twitter feed is here if you want to keep up with the adventures and mis-adventures in my life. Twitter is a short messaging service you can receive via the web, cell phone, or IM.

James Spann will be on vacation this coming week, so I will be posting the Weather Xtreme Videos by about 8 am each day. One more overnight at Cheaha before we head back home. I think I could stay up here all summer!! But, alas, there are things on the home front that prevent that. But we will visit as often as we can. Thanks for tuning in. I hope that you have a great day. Godspeed.
