The strongest storms in all of Alabama are over the west-central and central part late this afternoon.

NWS/Birmingham has issued a Significant Weather Alert for Marengo County until 6:15, including the City of Linden. They did that because of a strong storm west of Myrtlewood moving east at 35. It could produce 45 mph gusts and frequent cloud-to-ground lightning. A lot of heavy rain, also.

A more serious situation is a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Lowndes County until 6:00 p.m. The severe thunderstorm, capable of producing penny-size hail and damaging winds over 60, was located about 20 miles SE of Selmont-West Selmont and moving NE at 25.

The storms over much of North Alabama have weakened and thinned in number. We will continue to watch and wait.
