The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Tallapoosa County in East Alabama until 2:45.
Near the coast, the NWS in Mobile has also issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Central Baldwin County until 2:30.
Thunderstorms were increasing in number and intensity across part of the Tennessee Valley and down through the east side of Alabama. Another strong storm was located along the DeKalb/Etowah County line between Ft. Payne and Gadsden.
The Tallapoosa County storm was located over the western part of the county. Movement was erratic, but generally slowly toward the SSW.
In extreme North Alabama, there is a report of thunderstorm wind damage at 2:05 p.m. with gusts to around 55 mph and tree limbs down in Athens.
In NE Alabama, pea-size hail was reported at Collinsville in DeKalb County and along I-59 in the same area.
