A thunderstorm developed rather quickly over NW Jefferson County. The NWS issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for North-Central Jefferson County until 5 o’clock.
Around 4:30, the storm was centered about 6 miles NE of Sayre or 7 miles west of Warrior and moving north less than 10 mph. It should remain mainly over areas west of I-65, as it continues slowly toward the north. It will move in the general direction of where Walker, Blount and Jefferson County join.
This storm is producing a tremendous amount of lightning and since the storm is moving so slow, it will dump a tremendous amount of rain. This storm is moving away from the immediate Birmingham area.
Other moderate to strong thunderstorms are over Winston County and moving into SW Cullman County.
