The National Weather Service has issued a new severe thunderstorm warning for portions of Clay and Talladega Counties until 230 p.m.
This is ahead of that intense line segment that extends from just west of Talladega to just east of Columbiana.
It is moving a little south of east and seems to be intensifying as it ingests that warm humid and unstable air ahead of it. The Ashland area in Clay County will get hit with heavy winds, deadly lightning and torrential rains in the next 30 mins.
There is a newly developed cell just northeast of Ashland.
Widespread showers and storms will continue through the afternoon across Central Alabama in areas south of Tuscaloosa to Calera to Talladega.
