SOME FOLLOW-UP REPORTS
At 11:29 a.m. in the Hokes Bluff community, located on US-278 east of Gadsden, a wind gust of 65 mph was recorded. The 33/40 weather watcher is located 1 mile NW of US-278 and Apallachian Highway. He also reported 1.15 inches of rain. A few minutes later, they had another wind gust to 49 mph.
Around 1:00 p.m., dime-size hail was reported 5 miles west of Hamilton.

POSITION REPORT IN THUNDERSTORMS
Two entirely separate groups. The leading edge of the line of storms on the east side of the state had advanced into South Clay County, NE Tallapoosa County and Northern Chambers County. These were approaching Dadeville and Lafayette. There was still a lot of rain lingering behind those storms over Calhoun and Cleburne Counties.
On the west side of the state, the stronger storms were in Central Lamar County near Vernon, extending over into Fayette County just north of Fayette and Berry. They, too, were moving southward.
It appears that most of Jefferson and Shelby Counties will be in a big gap and miss most of the adverse weather.
