Showers and storms continue to sink slowly southward this morning across North Central Alabama.
Heavy rain was across Fayette, NW Walker and Winston Counties. This activity will move into Cullman, across Walker and into nrothern Tuscaloosa Counties as it moves ESE. Much of Jefferson County should benefit from this rain beginning before 10:30 a.m.
Lightning has been decreasing as this activity has weakened overall but we will take the rain.
More moderate to heavy rain is over or entering the I-59 Corridor from the Georgia border to west of Ashville.
A good bit of lightning approaching Oneonta and Gadsden.
All of this activity is associated with an outflow boundary that dropped into Alabama last night. The main frontal system is still well to the north. This is good news if you are hoping for rain, and many of us can use it.
An inch could fall on average today and tonight, with another half inch or more tomorrow.
Indications are that rain could continue into much of Monday, and we will be increasing the probability of rain for Monday on the new forecast package.
