North half of Alabama had an extended break fronm showers and storms during the day but that is about to change.
A large area of showers and thunderstorms over Mississippi, Louisiana and Arkansas was spreading eastward. The leading edge of the showers were entering West Alabama’s Lamar and Pickens County around 5:30. The initial showers are not very heavy but showers and storms become a lot heavier by the time you reach Central and NW Mississippi where most of the lightning is.
Out ahead of all this, an isolated shower developed in Alabama and it was crossing I-65 in South Cullman County south of Good Hope. It was moderate in intensity.
More wet weather for much of Alabama into the weekend, especially through Friday.
