Looks like we will be seeing a couple of days with little in the way of shower possibilities. And along with drier conditions, the heat cranks up a bit as we see highs in the middle 90s- some spots nudging into the upper 90s. And for some of us – like my location – I’ve only seen 2 hundredths of an inch of rain for the whole month so far!!

The weak upper troughiness has been edged out by an upper ridge which will remain in place until the end of the week. As we get into Friday and Saturday, we’ll see a slight breakdown to the upper ridge which could mean a better shot at some showers and thunderstorms. Looks like the best chances will come on Saturday. After that, the ridge builds back across Central Alabama and we return to the daily isolated shower chances.

Tropics remain quiet for now. SPC outlooking a large area in the North Central US for a slight risk of severe storms along with a moderate risk covering portions of Wisconsin and Minnesota. With the westerlies well to our north, the chances for organized severe weather remains up that way as well.

The long range GFS output suggests just more of the same with the upper ridge holding its position and keeps us in a pattern with isolated daily showers along with hot temperatures.

Long day yesterday working the polls in Helena. Not an especially great turnout at about 19 percent of the registered voters voting. But it did stay steady for much of the day. Next election comes in November! I hope that you have a great day. I’ll have the next Weather Xtreme Video by about 8 am tomorrow. Godspeed.
