Most of the showers and storms have diminished across Alabama late tonight. Mostly what was left over were some areas of steady rain where thunderstorms had mostly diminished. It is raining over most of Calhoun and Etowah Counties northeastward to Scottsboro. Also a steady rain over east/central counties near the Georgia border and over on the west side of the state in Tuscaloosa, Pickens, Fayette and Lamar Counties. Still another rain area up in the NW corner of the state.

A number of places got torrential downpours today, including the Birmingham area, around Gadsden and many other communities.

We are also watching a line of strong thunderstorms late tonight positioned across North Arkansas and NW Tennessee. Some of those may reach NW Alabama before daybreak, although they should be weaker by that time.

We expect redevelopment of showers and thunderstorms tomorrow. They may become numerous at times with locally heavy rain.

We have taken the rain completely out of the forecast for Sunday across Central Alabama. Cannot rule out some showers well to the south of Birmingham, however.
