Late this afternoon showers were spreading from Mississippi into West Alabama. At 5:30, moderate to heavy showers extended from Sulligent southward to Livingston. They were advancing toward Fayette, Tuscaloosa, Greensboro and Demopolis.
By far the heavier showers and storms were over South Mississippi and Southeast Louisiana. In fact, NWS in New Orleans issued a Tornado Warning for the general area around Hammond.
This large cluster of storms may temporarily “cut off at the pass” some of the moisture stream from the Gulf of Mexico headed into Alabama.
But not for too long.
Showers and thunderstorms will continue tomorrow and some of those storms could be strong and produce locally heavy rain.
The NWS Storm Prediction Center is keeping all of Alabama under a slight risk of severe weather tomorrow. So far this does not appear to be as strong a threat as we had to endure last Saturday night into Sunday morning,
