Showers and thunderstorms are becoming more ambitious and increasing in number early on this Thursday afternoon.
A line of thunderstorms, growing stronger, extended from NE Louisiana across North Mississippi, into Extreme NW Alabama and Middle Tennessee.
Moving east.
Another large area of showers and storms was over North Arkansas.
Meanwhile, looking south, scattered showers and thunderstorms were increasing across the south half of Alabama, South Mississippi and South Louisiana. Those individual storms were moving NE.
The “cool front” that we have been bragging about was near St. Louis and Oklahoma and pushing toward the SE.
So, what does all of this mean? Look for showers and storms to be more numerous this afternoon and well into tonight. As the front pushes into the deep tropical moisture, it will make the storms more angry. Don’t be surprised to see a few isolated severe thunderstorm warnings later this afternoon and this evening. Possible even a Flash Flood Warning.
The NWS/Storm Prediction Center has extended their “slight risdk” area a bit more southward to include Extreme NW Alabama.
The front will eventually win out over the sea of humidity that blankets Alabama with a mostly sunny weekend, a distinct drop in humidity, cooler nights and acceptable days!
