Showers, along with some thunderstorms were increasing mainly over the western part of Alabama this morning.

At 8:30 am, showers were over Tuscaloosa and Walker County into East Mississippi. Some of those were moving into Jefferson County. This group of showers included a heavy shower with some lightning moving into West Alabama’s Pickens County.

Showers were rather numerous over SW Alabama. There are unofficial reports of as much as 10 inches of rain so far the Gulf Shores area. However, only 1.44 on Dauphin Island so far. Thunderstorms continue to develop offshore and move inland. Lots of lightning indicated south of the Mobile and Baldwin County beaches (offshore)

Probably the strongest thunderstorms with this overall weather system were across the west edge of Tennessee and also across SE Texas. Lots of lightning with those.
