The phone in the ABC 33/40 Newsroom is ringing off the hook with reports of snow flurries this morning, and we are actually seeing some rooftops get white on the Cullman Skycam. We do not expect any *significant* accumulation of snow or ice, but steps, porches, and decks will be icy this morning. There may even be a few icy spots on bridges if the snow comes down hard enough.

You won’t see these on radar unless you’re within about 40 miles of the site. The flurries are forming in the first 2,000 feet of the atmosphere, which is well under the lowest radar beam elevation when you’re beyond 40 miles from the radar sites in Calera, Hytop, or Greenwood Springs (Columbus, Miss.)

Temperatures are the big deal, not the snow. It’s in the 20s with windchills in the 10s. Bundle up, and watch out for a few icy spots!

8:45 AM Update:

Here are some pictures from Ann Jay Harrison, a 4th grade teacher at Thompson Intermediate in Alabaster. Light accumulation of some snow on a truck in the parking lot there, and we’ll see a lot of this through the morning. Radars over Alabama are really starting to show a pick-up in the snow flurries & snow showers, but we still don’t foresee any *significant* accumulations.
