A mix of precipitation continues to spread across North and Central Alabama tonight…
Light to moderate rain is over South Central Alabama. Some pretty good sleet and light frezing rain is over Lamar, Fayette, southern Marion, NW Walker and Winston Counties. The temperature was down to 34F at Columbus MS and 33F at Tupelo. 31/23 at our Hamitlon site. Looks like snow for Marion County over into Winston County.
34/27 at Jasper…they could get into the snow acto overnight also. They may see an inch of accumulation overnight.
It was 33/23 at our Cullman Skycam site. Ground was beginning to whiten. Cullman is in for a nice snowfall now it looks like. Also may see 2 inches.
36/13 at Gadsden with what looks to be snow falling at our Skycam. Could be a nice snow for Etowah County with 1-2 inches possible. Mount Cheaha looks like it will get a good coating.
Birmingham site at 35/23 atop the Daniel Building. 36/24 at the Airport at 11 p.m. Evaporational cooling should lower these readings to around 31-32 degrees. If this happens, we will definitely see some icing problems on bridges and exposed objects in the morning.
Hopefully temperatures will edge back up toward rush hour, but for now, it is imperative that you check weather and road conditions before heading out across North or Central Alabama.
