AT DAYBREAK: A low level easterly flow has pushed clouds into our state early this morning, and accordingly temperatures are not as cool as yesterday; most communities are in the low 60s. There is a rather vigorous upper low over the middle Atlantic coast interacting with the ghost of Tropical Storm Karen, but the rain with that feature will remain east of Alabama, and around here we project a mixture of clouds and sun today with a high in the mid to upper 70s. Some places over the eastern third of the state could very well be mostly cloudy with the continued easterly flow.

TOMORROW THROUGH THE WEEKEND: Very nice October weather. Mostly sunny warm days, clear cool nights, and low humidity. By Friday and the weekend the high will be in the low 80s, with lows mostly in the cool 50s.

NEXT WEEK: The 00Z GFS is a little faster with the cold front that will impact Alabama, and brings in a band of showers on Tuesday. Probably not a big rain event, and much cooler air follows this for the latter half of the week. Looks like most places around here will get down into the 40s by early Thursday morning of next week. See the Weather Xtreme video for the maps, graphics, and details.

GULF COAST WEATHER: Perfect weather through Sunday with sunny warm days and fair cool nights from Panama City to Gulf Shores. Highs in the low 80s; lows in the 60s. Should be hard to find a decent cloud in the sky this weekend during the National Shrimp Festival at Gulf Shores. Sea water temperatures are in the 78-81 degree range this afternoon.

FOOTBALL WEATHER: No rain problems for high school football again this week; a clear sky tomorrow night and Friday night with temperatures falling through the 60s during the games.

Auburn hosts Western Carolina Saturday at 1:00; the sky will be mostly sunny with a kickoff temperature near 80 degrees; low 80s are likely by halftime time. Alabama is on the road; they will visit the Kentucky Wildcats Saturday evening (6:00p CT kickoff)… the sky will be clear. About 70 degrees at kickoff; 50s are possible by the final whistle.

TROPICS: The disturbance in the East Atlantic has a chance of becoming Tropical Storm Lorenzo in a few days, but there is a pretty good chance this one recurves into the open Atlantic. See the Weather Xtreme video for the maps and details.

WEATHER BRAINS: Don’t forget you can listen to our weekly 90 minute netcast anytime on the web, or on iTunes. This is the show all about weather featuring many familiar voices, including our meteorologists here at ABC 33/40.
