SUN AND STORMS: Some light rain is falling across the southeast corner of Alabama at daybreak; the rest of the state is dry as the day begins. Scattered showers and storms will form again this afternoon in the humid air across the Deep South. High resolution models suggest the highest coverage of rain later today will be over the southern half of the state, with only isolated showers to the north. The sun should break through at times, and most places will see a high in the mid 80s this afternoon.
The weather won’t change much through the rest of the week and the weekend. Very humid with scattered, mostly afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms. Highest chance of rain comes from noon to midnight, and odds of any one place seeing a shower or storm daily is 50-60 percent. No day will be a wash-out, and there will be intervals of sun. Highs will be in the low to mid 80s.
NEXT WEEK: An upper ridge begins to rebuild across the region, which will open the door for a drier pattern. Fewer showers, more sun, and warmer afternoons… See the video briefing for maps, graphics, and more details.
