The only convective warning in the U.S. right now is the severe thunderstorm warning for Monroe and Wilcox Counties.
The intense thunderstorm is over northern Monroe and eastern Wilcox Counties east of Camden and north of Monroeville. It is moving ENE toward Hayneville and in the general direction of Montgomery.
Lowndes and Montgomery Counties are in the cross hairs now. The NWS may issue a tornado warning for Lowndes County. Hail to the size of golf balls is indicated with this storm.
The airmass over South Central Alabama is much more unstable, with temperatures in the lower 70s and dewpoints in the middle 60s. Aurface based CAPE values are in the 1000-15000 j/kg range in this area. The 500 j/kg CAPE line extends as far north as Clanton now.
