Shortly after 9:00 tonight, here is where the mean old thunderstorms were still roaming. I suppose I should not call them mean, because they are bringing some substantial rain and who doesn’t want rain? Here is the lowdown:
* Winston County. A number of strong storms all across the county. It is pouring rain along US-278 that bisects the county from east to west and goes through such towns as Natural Bridge, Double Springs and Addison.
* Western Tallapoosa County. Big storm down in East Central Alabama, which moved out of Coosa County into Tallapoosa. It is pouring rain in places like Alexander City, Jackson Gap and the eastern part of Lake Martin. Movement is slowly to the east. The NWS/Birmingham issued a Significant Weather Alert for Tallapoosa County until 9:45, including the cities of Alexander City and Dadeville. This was based on a big thunderstorm over Alexander City moving east at 10. It could produce wind gusts to 45 mph and frequent cloud-to-ground lightning.
* Calhoun County. A small cluster of strong storms in the Anniston/Oxford area.
* In NE Alabama, thunderstorms have diminished in the Huntsville, Scottsboro, Ft. Payne area, although considerable rain is still falling, especially in DeKalb County.
