A small but strong thunderstorm was in the general vicinity of Birmingham late this afternoon.
At 5:55 pm, the storm extended from near Downtown Birmingham eastward generally along I-20 East bound to near Leeds at the east edge of Jefferson County. Seems to be redeveloping near downtown and moving eastward.
Dumping locally heavy rain. Thisstorm could also have some small hail and dangerous lightning as it continues eastward.
NWS/Birmingham issued a Special Weather Statement for this storm.
