The big thunderstorm that took forever to work its way up through Jefferson County is just a ghost of itself now over the northern part of the county. However, it caused quite a few problems. A number of Trussville fire engines were dispatched, trees were uprooted in the Still Oaks subdivision in South Trussville on the ridge near the water tower.

At Bill Murray’s house in South Trussville, 2.01 inches of rain.

Lightning struck a home in the Tutwiler Farms subdivision just off US-11 in Trussville. Five fire engines were dispatched when the resident smelled smoke, but it was brought under control.

Jason Reed, one of the 33/40 skywatchers in the Trussville area, received 1.50 inches in only 15-20 minutes.

Up in NW Alabama, 3 inches of rain in the community of Lynn this evening from a thunderstorm that just sat there for a long time. Lynn is in SW Winston County south of Natural Bridge.

Most other thunderstorms in the state have completely died away.

This is not a complete resume, but it covers the main bases. Much lightning tonight and two internet outages. Considerable power failures in South Trussville, including Bill Murray’s home.
