After a long day the storms did quite down a bit, but some storms are still moving across Alabama early this Saturday morning. There were 2 thunderstorms that prompted warnings from the National Weather Service as the storms moved through Clay, Coosa, Talladega, and even far SE Shelby counties. All warning have now expired, in fact they expired earlier than their original warning time. Good news there.

At this time there are no watches or warnings, but still a few thunderstorms around.

The storm producing the most lightning is around the Greene, Sumter, and Hale county lines just to the west of Demopolis. The storm is moving to the NE, so if you are around there you will see lightning and of course hear the rumble of thunder. That storm is not severe at this time.

Showers are also scattered throughout Tuscaloosa and Jefferson counties at this time, there does not appear to be much lightning in them. Just don’t be surprised to hear some thunder rumble.

More numerous storms are in Eastern Alabama at this hour in Clay, Tallapoosa, Chambers, and Elmore counties. The storms that moved through Clay county prompted warnings that have since expired. All of those scattered storms are moving to the NE and will soon be moving into Georgia. There is lightning in those storms as well early this morning.

It appears that the severe weather threat is winding down as those storms will soon be pushing out of Alabama; however, we’ll keep a watch out for any storms that may bump up to the severe limits. Those will only be isolated cases as the atmosphere is cooling down and becoming more stable.
