Even though the Severe Thunderstorm Warning expires for Jefferson County at 5:45, it was still pouring rain over the NW part of the county near the Walker County line. The strongest part of the thunderstorm was crossing the Jefferson/Walker County line into Eastern Walker County and moving NW. The NWS advises the strongest part of the storm was near Dora moving NW at 13. It could still produce hail 1/2 inch in diameter and winds up to 40. The thunderstorm will affect these communities:
Burnwell
Dora
Empire
Rocky Hollow
Sipsey
Lynns Park

Dangerous lightniing is always a problem with these storms, so take cover. The thunderstorm will pass in or near Jasper within the next 30 or 40 minutes.

Elsewhere over NE Alabama, a thunderstorm was approaching Rainbow City with strong gusty winds. It was not a large storm. Other very strong thunderstorms were over Macon, Tallapoosa and Lee Counties. Other storms over NW Alabama were over North Lamar and Marion Counties near Hamilton and also moving NW.

Earlier, these storms dumped 0.73 rain in Helena in just a short time as reported by Brian Peters.
