An all new edition of the ABC 33/40 Weather Xtreme video is available in the player below and on iTunes.

The latest edition is coming to you from Chicago where I had some stormy weather last night and now it is much colder. It appears that the cold front stretching across the eastern part of the country will keep the weather unsettled across Central Alabama today and Sunday. Today we expect to see scattered showers – a few already occurred this morning and showers are likely this afternoon. There is a threat that a few storms could approach severe limits today, but the greatest threat of severe weather comes on Sunday – mainly afternoon and evening. This does present a problem for the races at Talladega, but it looks like the biggest threat will come in the later afternoon and evening so the races can occur unimpeded.

The front should move through by early Monday leaving a chilly surface high to start our work week off. While it will be chilly, I am not expecting freezing temperatures. Tuesday morning should be the coldest with lows down around 40. This does mean that those normally colder locations will dip into the upper 30s.

The upcoming week will feature a nice warm up as temperatures climb back to around 80 degrees by the end of the week which should be dry.

Our next weather system will come in the Friday-Saturday time frame. Friday looks like scattered showers as moisture increases ahead of the next system. Saturday will feature showers and thunderstorms with Sunday drying out again.

Peeking into voodoo country shows a ridge followed by a flattened, zonal pattern across the southern US which could feature a frontal system stalling somewhere across the Southeast. This would mean a period of diurnal showers, but we’re well into voodoo land, so no real specifics are possible.

I should have the next video tomorrow morning around 8 am or so, unless my daughter walks me to death around Chicago today. There is a lot to see in this big city, and I always enjoy my visits here. I hope that you have a great Saturday. God bless.
