NWS issued a Significant Weather Alert for West Pickens and Lamar County in extreme West Alabama. Most of the thunderstorm was over in the east edge of Mississippi moving north at 30 mph. However, an outflow boundary (a line of gusty winds) was clearly visible on Columbus AFB radar moving north through Alabama’s Lamar County.
Gusts could reach 45 mph.
This storm produced some hail within 4 or 5 miles of the Meridian Naval Air Station before 6 pm.
Over in Central and West Mississippi a line of strong thunderstorms dumping heavy rain in some areas. Several Severe Thunderstorm Warnings from the NWS in Jackson and Memphis. Those, also, are moving more toward the north.
(A significant Weather Alert is short of a warning)
