Nice shot of a “sun dog” yesterday from Fayette County… this effect is caused by sunlight filtering through a layer of high cirrus clouds, which are ice crystals. Bart Robertson sent the images to us… he writes:
“I have a few photos that I think are pretty unusual. Feel free to use them any way you want. About 4:00 pm today my neighbors Bill and Marilyn Brasher called me to come and see this unusual upside down rainbow! I ran inside and got 4 photos before it went away. My camera is old and I apologize for the poor quality. We live in Fayette and the rainbow was in the western sky. Credit Bill and Marilyn Brasher for the photos, it’s their rainbow.”
