After a long hot summer, a day of rain and gentle thunder is a nice relief. The rain is heaviest this hour east and southeast of Birmingham.
Over West Alabama, heavier showers are over Pickens, Greene and northern Sumter Counties.
Lighter showers cover a good bit of North Central Alabama.
Periods of rain and storms will continue through the day and into tonight. Rain will be heavy at times, mainly south of I-59. NO flooding or severe weather is expected.
The rain should diminish on Monday and cooler weather will follow.
