A noisy thunderstorm continues to move NW across the Greater Birmingham area very early on this Tuesday morning. It is keeping a lot of people awake mainly because of the loud thunder. It was also dumping very heavy rain.
The good news is that it has weakened in the last 15 minutes. It is not a tight nit storm but seems to have several parts.
At 1:20 am the heaviest rain was in the Leeds area and moving NW toward Trussville. It was also heavy in the Downtown Birmingham area.
This (not well organized) storm will continue toward the NW crossing I-65 North in places like Gardendale, Fultondale and possibly Warrior. Areas west of Downtown Birmingham may also get some heavy rain.
At 1 am observation time, the storm was well underway at Birmingham Airport, however the wind was only 5 mph. Rain had amounted to 0.58 of an inch.
