North/Central Alabama Dry Through Friday
REFRESHING MORNING: Our Skywatcher at Black Creek, just northeast of Gadsden in Etowah County, Vic Bell, reports a refreshing 53 degrees just before daybreak this morning. We are seeing temperatures also in the 50s in places like Fort Payne and Cullman. With a dry airmass in place, we rise into the mid to upper 80s this afternoon. Continue reading
Most Of The State Dry Through Friday
SEVERE CLEAR: It is a remarkably nice day for June in Alabama. Low dewpoints mean the weather is not very humid, we have a cobalt blue sky with excellent visibility (no haze), temperatures are below 90, and tonight will be pleasantly cool. We stay clear and while most places will see a low in the low 60s tomorrow, but cooler pockets dip into the 50s. Continue reading
Lower Humidity, Cooler Nights, No Showers
DRY AIR: we have a nice surge of dry, continental air now moving into our state. Look for sunshine in full supply today with a high in the 86-89 degree range. Dewpoints have dropped into the 50s, so humidity values will be rather low for early summer. Tomorrow morning will be very pleasant with lows in the low 60s… but cooler pockets will visit the 50s. Continue reading
Storms Today; Drier into Start of Week
Storms will move through Alabama ahead of a cold front with a marginal risk for isolated damaging wind. By Monday we should see lower humidity with dew points dropping back into the 50s. Highs will be in the mid 80s Monday and Tuesday but climb into the lower 90s by the end of the week. Continue reading

Weekend Storms, Drier Next Week
Showers and storms remain scattered for the weekend, but a cold front pushing through Alabama on Sunday promises drier weather for the week ahead. Highs will be primarily in the 80s with lows well down into the 60s. The lower humidity will feel good for the first three days of next week. Continue reading
Severe Storms Remain Possible Across Central Alabama
THE ALABAMA WEEKEND: A few strong storms are possible tomorrow, but they should be pretty widely scattered, and mostly during the afternoon and evening hours. Otherwise, tomorrow will be partly sunny with a high close to 90 degrees. We note SPC has a “marginal” (level 1 out of 5) severe weather risk in place for much of the state… where storms do form tomorrow they could produce hail and gusty winds. Continue reading
A Few Strong/Severe Storms Possible Later Today
EARLY THIS MORNING: We have a weakening band of showers and storms pushing through North and West Alabama, and a few isolated storms over the central counties of the state. The airmass remain very humid with high precipitable water values; dewpoints are in the 70s. Continue reading
Muggy Days; Scattered Storms
RADAR CHECK: Showers and storms are more widely spaced across Alabama so far today; heavier rain as I write this around 3:15 was near Alexander City… the storms in progress are just creeping along to the east. Additional showers and thunderstorms could form over the next few hours in random, scattered places. Temperatures are mostly in the mid to upper 80s. Continue reading
Sun And Scattered Storms; Very Humid
QUIET THIS MORNING: As opposed to yesterday when a band of storms was producing flooding across Central Alabama, we have nothing showing up on radar this morning at daybreak. We do note some patchy dense fog, but that will dissipate by mid-morning. Continue reading
