Windy And Cool; Rain At Times
HANG ON TO YOUR HAT: As expected, it is a very windy morning across Alabama. Gradient winds (not related to thunderstorms) are gusting to 30/40 mph in spots, and a wind advisory remains in effect. The wind will die down later today as the gradient relaxes. Showers continue as a deep upper low evolves just northwest of Alabama this morning. A dry slot will likely bring a little sun later this morning, but clouds will wrap back into the state this afternoon. Continue reading

And, we note SPC maintains a low end, “marginal risk” (level 1/5) of severe thunderstorms for much of North and Central Alabama. Continue reading

WET AT TIMES THROUGH TOMORROW: A flash flood watch remains in effect for roughly the northern half of Alabama as very moist air remains parked over the state. Look for occasional showers and a few thunderstorms through tomorrow night, with heavier rain totals over North Alabama. The ground is saturated, so a few flooding problems could develop as the showers will be very efficient rain producers. Additional rain amounts of 1-2 inches are possible in the flash flood watch area over the next 48 hours. Continue reading
