Eagle Pass is a town on the USA-Mexican border right on the Rio Grande. It is not very large and it is in a remote area of South Texas. No interstate anywhere in the area. The main route out of Eagle pass to the east and NE is U.S. 57.

The nearest large city to Eagle Pass is San Antonio, 130 air miles to the NE. A smaller city, Laredo is 100 air miles to the SE.

Directly across the Rio Grande River from Eagle Pass, is a larger town, Piedras Negras, Mexico.

WHAT HAPPENED
About 7 last evening, a tornado, a strong one, moved across the area. Early reports show:

6 fatalities a few miles SE of Eagle pass. (Loma Linda community)
74 injuries, 4 critical
3 fatalities in Piedras Negras, Mexico
40 injuries (at least)

Based on those reports, 9 fatalities and 114 injuries.

Elementary school destrroyed near Eagle pass
4 of the 6 deaths was in one mobile home
6 mobile homes missing
Numerous buildings destroyed or damaged.

These numbers will probably change as the story unfolds.
