Here we are in the first minutes of Saturday and some beneficial rain was falling across Alabama. Much of the west half of the state has already received a good soaking and the rain has ended over most of that area.

At 12:25 am, you could draw a line through these cities:

Huntsville
Cullman
Jasper
Tuscaloosa
Marion
Grove Hill

…and the rain has ended west of those areas. But east of that line the rain continues and it was spreading into Extreme East Alabama.

Some of the heaviest rain was across Shelby, Talladega, Chilton and Coosa County into SW Alabama. Lightning and thunder involved also, although not very frequent.

So far tonight, the only warnings have been down in SW Alabama where a Tornado Watch was in effect until 12-midnight.

A selection of rain amounts, mostly from ABC 33/40 Skywatchers:

0.96 Concord/Hueytown
1.46 Coker (West Tuscaloosa County
1.06 Hueytown/Bessemer
0.78 Carbon Hill
0.86 Haleyville
0.92 Oak Grove (West Jefferson County

A cold front has pushed into the west part of the state. While it was 70 in Anniston, 68 in Alexander City and 67 in Montgomery, it was 54 in Muscle Shoals with west winds gusting to 29 mph and 55 degrees in Haleyville.

We do not have any reports of damage tonight from hardly anywhere in the state unless there are some delayed reports from SW Alabama. A number of damage reports in Mississippi late Friday afternoon and Friday evening.

After 1 am, we will have updated rain amounts from the hourly airport reporting stations such as Huntsville, Birmingham, Montgomery, Mobile to name a few.

Burning the midnight oil again tonight something that seemingly has become a Friday night tradition!
