An all new edition of the ABC 33/40 Weather Xtreme video is available in the player below. You can subscribe to the Weather Xtreme video on iTunes by clicking here.

EASTERLY FLOW: Our May heat wave will subside today as an easterly flow brings in cooler and moist air into Alabama. Both the GFS and the NAM are printing a high of only 82 today, and I would not be shocked if some communities near the Alabama border fail to reach 80 today. Showers and storms will be a little more numerous this afternoon and early tonight; the chance of any one spot getting wet is about one in three. A few decent downpours are likely.

TOMORROW THROUGH FRIDAY: Heat levels will increase through the rest of the week. Look for a high in the mid to upper 80s tomorrow, close to 90 Thursday, with low 90s possible Friday. While a few isolated afternoon showers and storms are possible each day, many communities will be dry.

MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND: The weather looks relatively dry over the holiday weekend with very warm afternoons. Looks like a high around 90 each day Saturday through Monday, and while there will be some risk of a passing afternoon shower or storm each day, they will be widely spaced, and most of the weekend will stay rain-free.

AT THE BEACH: Very routine early summer weather is likely for the Gulf Coast of the Florida Panhandle and South Alabama… about 7 to 9 hours of sunshine each day with only widely scattered showers and thunderstorms. Highs along the immediate coast will be in the low 80s, with highs closer to 90 just a few miles inland. Sea water temperatures are now generally in the low 80s.

TROPICAL WEATHER: No change in the broad low off the South Atlantic coast of the U.S., and there is just a low chance it becomes a tropical system. It won’t impact Alabama one way or another.

VOODOO LAND: Watch the Weather Xtreme video and check the GFS output in the June 4-7 time frame… a very strong upper trough shows up over the eastern U.S., which would mean much cooler air for the Deep South for those days if by chance the model is right.

WEATHER BRAINS: Don’t forget you can listen to our weekly 30 minute netcast anytime on the web, or on iTunes. This is the show all about weather featuring many familiar voices, including our meteorologists here at ABC 33/40. You can even listen here on the blog; look for the player on the top left. We will produce tonight’s show at 8:30 CDT, and will stream it live here. It will be posted to iTunes and the web by midnight.
