WARM IS THE WORD: Temperatures are mostly in the 87-90 degree range across Alabama this afternoon with a good supply of sunshine, and our weather won’t change much over the weekend. Partly sunny days, fair nights, and highs will stay mostly between 87 and 90 degrees tomorrow and Sunday. Most of the active storms will remain northwest of Alabama, although one or two might edge down into the northwest corner of the state around Muscle Shoals. No significant rain is expected down this way.
TO THE WEST: Severe storms are possible over the weekend in a broad area from Northeast Texas to the eastern Great Lakes… but those won’t an issue for most of Alabama… folks up around the Tennessee border could be impacted at times.
NEXT WEEK: No major changes Monday and Tuesday; any showers will be very hard to find, and we stay in the upper 80s. The next organized rain event seems to be lined up for Thursday with a decent short wave approaching from the west. There could be some strong storms involved, but still too early to really determine if there will be a significant severe weather threat. See the Weather Xtreme video for more details.
WEATHER BRAINS: Don’t forget you can listen to our weekly 90 minute netcast anytime on the web, or on iTunes. This is the show all about weather featuring many familiar voices, including our meteorologists here at ABC 33/40.
