The severe thunderstorm warning remains in effect for eastern Jefferson County until 8:45 p.m.
A severe thunderstorm was over western sections of the Birmingham metro area moving to the northeast. It will impact areas from western Birmingham through downtown up to Gardendale and up toward Tarrant, Roebuck, Centerpoint, Pinson, Clay and Trussville.
Dime sized hail was reported in Bessemer.
The severe thunderstorm warning for West Central Shelby County was canceled.
