DRY DAYS: Today will be the 7th consecutive day without rain for Alabama… basically more of the same. Mostly sunny and warm with a high in the low to mid 80s as the upper ridge holds. No change tomorrow as the unseasonably warm and dry weather rolls along.
THE WEEKEND: A cold front passes through Alabama on Saturday, but global models are all now very dry with that front here in Alabama. We will continue to mention a small risk of an afternoon shower, but the chance of any one spot getting wet sure looks small. The weather will turn cooler, however, with highs dropping into the upper 70s Saturday, followed by low 70s Sunday. Saturday will be partly sunny, with sunshine in full supply Sunday.
FOOTBALL WEATHER: Yes, we know this is spring, but Alabama is a football-loving state, and the spring games at both Alabama and Auburn Saturday promise to bring out large crowds. For the A-Day game at Auburn, the sky will be partly sunny, with temperatures in the 74 to 77 degree range during the game, and there is no significant chance of rain. For Alabama’s A-Day game at Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa, the chance of a shower during the game is only in the 10 percent range. The sky will be partially sunny with temperatures ranging from 75 to 78.
AT THE BEACH: Expect mostly sunny days and fair nights along the Gulf Coast from Panama City west to Gulf Shores through Saturday. Highs along the immediate coast will be in the low 70s, with readings closer to 80 just a few miles inland. A few widely scattered showers could show up Sunday and Monday, but most of those two days will be dry. Sea water temperatures along the coast remain in the 69 to 72 degree range.
NEXT WEEK: Watch the Weather Xtreme video and you will see the 00Z GFS keeps us dry all the way through Friday of next week. If this happens to be correct, that will mean 15 consecutive days with no rain for much of Alabama. I will need to dig through the records, but this rarely ever happens during the month of April, here in the core of our spring severe weather season. The following weekend, however, looks wet, especially on Saturday 4/24. That is race weekend at Talladega, but don’t panic yet since that is way out there in the land of voodoo.
WEATHER BRAINS: Don’t forget you can listen to our weekly 30 minute netcast anytime on the web, or on iTunes. This is the show all about weather featuring many familiar voices, including our meteorologists here at ABC 33/40. You can even listen here on the blog; look for the player on the top left.
