In search of the perfect climate.
Where, oh where, is it?
Does it even exist?
Is it the mountains of Western North Carolina, sunny Southern California, The Arizona Desert, Santa Fe, New Mexico, A Pacific Island, Muleshoe, Texas, Miami, or Caribou, Maine?
It all depends on the person. I like cold weather but there is a limit. I never want to live in a place where the old backyard Royal Crown Cola thermometer (I use to have one of those) is constantly plunging below zero.
When I think of that type weather, I immediately think of International Falls at the north tip of Minnesota.They will have a wind chill as low as 35 below zero today.
I also like snow but certainly not an overdose. Maybe one snow each winter of 2 to 4 inches. I do not want to shovel snow for three months each year. I had relatives that lived for many years in Worcester, Massachusetts. They told me that when the snow got so deep, snow plows would open a narrow lane down each street. People would extend their radio antennas and attach a bright covered flag so they could be seen when approaching an intersection.
That is not for me.
Is the perfect climate right here in our back door? Maybe Cheaha State Park, Desoto State Park or Gulf Shores?
If I ever become a trillionaire several times over, I may buy Dekalb County and go into seclusion for the rest of my life.
