The Rickwood Classic game, featuring the Birmingham Barons and the Jacksonville Suns, will begin at 12:35 pm today at Historic Rickwood Field.

The weather forecast is a difficult one, since the area of rain moving down from the NW overnight has split into two pieces, one going east of BHM and one going west. Radar from 1020 am:

A few new storms are trying to get going from northern Jefferson county into southern Walker county, and these may bring some rain to Rickwood in the next hour or so. And, with the atmosphere still very moist and a cold front approaching from the north, one more round of storms will probably affect the Birmingham area sometime today or tonight. Timing this is difficult, but it could wait until after 5 pm. I’d say the chance of significant rain during the game (enough to stop play) is about 40%.

Remember that much of the seating is covered at Rickwood, so the fans can stay dry anyway. And, Jason Simpson and I are going out there. I wouldn’t let the weather stop me. But, I’ve given you my best forecast.
