At 3:50 p.m., there were two main clusters of strong storms over North and Central Alabama.

Much of St. Clair County is getting a drenching. Very strong storms just moved out of NE Jefferson County into St. Clair with some of the strongest storms moving across the Springville area. They are now approaching Ashville, Watsonville, Riverside and Ragland. Tops of these thunderstorms reach 52,000 feet and lightning is almost continuous.

The ABC 33/40 skywatcher on Simmons Mountain in Springville, lost power for about 5 minutes due to lightning. He received 0.61 inches of rain very quickly.

Off to the west, strong storms over the SE corner of Fayette County near Berry will be moving eastward into South Walker County.

The Severe Thunderstorm Watch continues for a huge part of Alabama, at least the north two-thirds, until 7 o’clock this evening.

There are still strong storms over North Mississippi that we will need to watch as they invade our geography.
