As we expected, “The Wedge” is wedging its way west across Alabama this morning. Don’t expect any record highs like we had yesterday, especially over the Central and East part of the state. Check out these 10 am temperatures:
48 atop Mt. Cheaha, poor visibility because the 2407-foot peak is in the clouds
55 at the Gadsden Skycam
57 at Anniston Airport and in Auburn
59 in Trussville with a brisk east wind and low overcast
67 in Tuscaloosa (warmer over on the west side of the state)
74 at a number of loctions in Central Mississippi
54 in Atlanta and Greenville-Spartanburg
We call it “the wedge” when cool or cold air pushed down the Atlantic Seabord, spreads around the southern edge of the Appalachians, then forces its way uninvited from Georgia into Alabama.
Except we met this one at the Georgia border waving a welcome to Alabama sign.
