They are widsely spaced but increasing in number and strength.

And lazy about moving

NWS/Birmingham issued a Signifacant Weather Alert for Jefferson County until 2 o’clock.

It was because of a strong thunderstorm near Irondale moving slowly west at 5 mph

Will affect mainly Irondale and Birmingham.

Could produce wind gusts to 40 mph. Quite a bit of lightning.

At 1:15m more numerous thunderstorms were over SE Alabama spreading slowly toward the NW.

But there was also a group of storms over North Central Alabama mainly over Jefferson, St. Clair and Talladega County. Several moderate to strong storms over Jefferson. We have reports of showers from:

Moody/St Clair County
Downtown Birmingham including the UAB area.

Movement generally westward.

Best lightning activity is from Birmingham eastward into St. Clair County.

Two bonus points: 1. Some folks getting some heavy rain. 2. All this is putting a choke on the evel thermometer.
