The wide band of showers and thunderstorms that passed through Tuscaloosa late last night (causing some damage) was over in East Alabama at 1:30 this morning.

They extended from Calhoun and part of Etowah County on the north down through Talladega and Clay County to west of Montgomery. Strongest storms were in Talladega County. Still a lot of lightning in those but overall they have weakened.

Meanwhile, in this convoy of storms, the next group was crossing the Mississippi River. Still another cluster over NE Texas and NW Louisiana.

Finally, the biggest and strongest group of all was over NW Texas extending into Oklahoma. That big group was overdosed with much, much lightning.

Everything moving eastward so we will need to be on watch at least for the next 24 to 48 hours.

But, for the moment, I am headed toward the big king-sized bed for a three-hour power nap. I can almost smell the 5 o’clock coffee!
