NWS/Birmingham continues a Flash Flood Warning for Fayette and South Lamar Counties until 5:30. This is due to a line of strong thunderstorms moving fairly slowly that has dumped very heavy rain in those areas.

At 4:00 this afternoon, the strongest part of that line of storms extended from the NW tip of Cullman County down through Eastern Winston and NW Walker Counties to near Fayette and Carrollton in Pickens County. It was pouring rain in those areas. Those storms also have lots of lightning.

Out ahead of that main line of storms, it was raining heavily over Central Blount County in North/Central Alabama and the NWS has a Flood Advisory for them until 7:00 p.m.

Up in North Alabama, NWS/Huntsville continues a Significant Weather Alert for Morgan County until 4:30.

The NWS/Storm Prediction Center maintains a Slight Risk of severe weather for the remainder of this afternoon and tonight for about the NW half of Alabama roughly along a Gadsden, Centreville, Demopolis line.

BIRMINGHAM METRO AREA
At the current rate of movement, this line of storms with heavy rain and a lot of lightning should reach the Birmingham metro area between 5:00 and 6:00. The storms are getting close to Jasper at the present time.

Within the last few minutes, two individual smaller storms have developed near Talladega and in South Shelby County between Calera and Columbiana.
