A nice cluster of thunderstorms moving from Fayette, South Walker and extreme North Tuscaloosa County moving east and approaching downtown Birmingham. A small single thunderstorm producing heavy rain in the NE part of Trussville. It is headed east toward Leeds.
Over extreme North and NE Alabama, heavy rain falling around Huntsville, down to Hartselle and Arab and into Northern Etowah County and finally down to Cleburne County–moving SE.
NWS/Huntsville has posted a Flash Flood Warning for Central Morgan County until 5:45 and also for Central Limestone County until 5:45. Some of these storms producing between 1 and 2 inches of rain per hour. Flash flooding is occurring around Athens, mainly east of town. High water has been reported on the east side of Athens along US-72.
