Everybody still seems happy that we are getting some good doses of showers and thunderstorms. Have not heard a single complaint about the rain. A large batch of thunderstorms moved across the northern third of the state this morning, with some as far south as the Birmingham area. Muscle Shoals, Decatur and Huntsville measured about 1/2 inch of rain in those.

In NE Trussville, 0.52 fell in less than 15 minutes.

This afternoon, another batch of storms were advancing eastward. By 2:00 p.m., the storms had traveled as far east as Cullman, Blount, Jefferson and Tuscaloosa Counties and there was some heavy downpours in a number of communities.

Some of the heaviest rain at 2 o’clock was over Eastern Tuscaloosa County north of I-59/20, over SE Pickens County and North Greene County and over NW Fayette County. A number of communities in Jefferson, Blount, Cullman and South Winston County were getting locally heavy rain, as well as Sumter County in West Alabama.

The storms were moving ENE and we will keep at least one of our eyes focused on them all afternoon and evening.

This is just what the doctor ordered.

And what the farmers ordered.

And what the Alabama Forestry Commission ordered.

And what the nursery owners ordered.

And what almost every citizen ordered, at least the ones that did not want to get a surcharge on their water bill.
