The National Weather Service has posted a Tornado Watch until 9:00 p.m. tonight CST or 10:00 p.m. EST. In Alabama, only 5 counties in the extreme SE part of the state are included. They are:

Coffee
Henry
Dale
Geneva
Houston

While we are at it, let’s give you a quick overall Alabama update. That line of showers and storms runs from the extreme North Gulf of Mexico NE across the Florida Panhandle into SW Georgia.

Another area of rain is spreading NE steadily from Louisiana and Central Mississippi. The leading edge was moving into Central Alabama at 1:00 p.m., so we will be getting more rain this afternoon. However, temperatures are in the 40s across Central Alabama and near 39 even in the NE corner of the state, so there will be no risk of frozen precipitation.
