On September 19th, Tim Coleman and I set out for a day-long adventure on the Warrior River. Tim’s family has a place on the river, actually Bankhead Lake. Tim invited me to go out on the river with him, and the day could not have been better weatherwise.

We had a great time taking the 7-mile trip up the river to the Gorgas Steam Plant and taking in the scenery along the river in Tim’s 1973 Manatee. I was somewhat surprised that there was very little color in the trees though I guess this was still a bit early for that. We had a lunch from gas-station goodies we picked up along the way up there. Just after finishing our lunch, a tow boat pushing six barges came up the river. Tim also used the opportunity to feed his pets, the local Bream population. They love pork and beans, which are cheaper than worms. Then the turncoat (Tim) got out a fishing pole and caught one of this friends. Be sure to watch to the end of the pictures so you get the WHOLE story.
