New severe thunderstorm warning for Oktibbeha County.
Continuous lightning repower to the northwest of Columbus MS. Strong winds are only about 20 miles west of Vernon in Lamar County and 15 miles west of the border. Lamar County should be especially alert ever though there is no warning now.
In fact there are no warnings for any Alabama county right now, but winds are raging not only in the storms, but where there are no storms. Just above the surface by only a few hundred feet, winds are near hurricane force. One such place is just north of Columbus MS. This activity is headed toward Lamar County.
A tornado watch remains in effect until 3 a.m. CST for the northwestern half of Alabama.
