Little concern about troubling radar echo northwest of Demopolis. We see vivid lightning from the Skycam there. This potential rotation will pass south of Boligee, Eutaw and Akron. It is passing near Forkland, crossing highway 43.
No formal warning for Sumter. The only formal warning in Alabama is for Choctaw County.
Strong storms continue from the Knoxville area southwest of Tuscaloosa up through NE Tuscaloosa County.
A new suspicious echo is south of Cuba. It will move in the general direction of Demopolis.
The NWS has cancelled the Tornado Watch for Fayette, Lamar, Marion, Pickens, and Winston Counties. The tornado watch does continue for much of the rest of the northwestern half of Alabama until 3 a.m.
Strong gradient winds are averaging some 25-35 mph across the state tonight with some gusts over 50 mph. The winds have felled some trees.
So far, no tornado touchdowns in Alabama. We can’t rule out a small tornado though until the storms are gone.
