A Tornado Watch continues until 9 am CST for a number of counties in West and South Alabama. The watch does not include the Birmingham area (Jefferson County) but it does include counties as nearby as Bibb and Tuscaloosa. Scroll down to see the text of the watch and the counties included.
Rain has become heavier over West and NW Alabama and as far east as Birmingham. Probably should allow some extra time for morning drive. Could even be some street flooding.
At 4:30 am, the most intense storms were still over East Mississippi but some have reached West Central Alabama.
Showers and thunderstorms will continue this morning, diminishing later in the morning. The sun should break through some by this afternoon. This will promote some warmer temperatures and could trigger some more strong thunderstorms.
The old thermometer (working overtime lately) may take a shot at the upper 60s and possibly even 70 this afternoon but some colder air arrives tonight with 40s by daybreak tomorrow.
At 4:30, no Severe Thunderstorm or Tornado Warnings current in Alabama.
